Meet Your Amicus Law Commercial Team

We have created a modern working environment, giving our lawyers a level of freedom and flexibility which few can match.

Most law firms impose strict time recording and billing targets on their lawyers. We believe this conflicts with the lawyers’ duty to you as the client. Your lawyer should focus solely on supporting you and your business rather than hitting a monthly target.

Working with Amicus Law Commercial you will deal with the same lawyer throughout your engagement with us. A lawyer who will get to know your business intimately, anticipate your needs and make progressive suggestions to help you grow sustainably and profitably.

You’ll be able to contact your lawyer directly, on their mobile phone, even in the evening or at weekends, and with no partners, trainees or juniors, all our lawyers are your first and last point of contact.

Supporting them, our admin staff are friendly and efficient and if you need specialist input from another skilled professional, your lawyer will know the right person to contact; someone who can be trusted and has the same ethos as us.

We have fantastic offices at Rumwell Hall, near Taunton and are always happy to see you here. But if it suits you better for us to come to you, that’s fine.

We also see it as part of our role to co-ordinate all aspects of your engagement with us. Where appropriate we will always try to fix joint meetings with bankers, accountants, or other professionals. No distractions – just great service, and real value.

We are interested in building long term relationships, and know this is based not just on the quality of our advice, but on the quality and convenience of our client service. As a result we have started with a clean sheet and created client support systems that will make it simple and easy for us to be your legal adviser, whenever the need arises.

Ian Pearson

I am not sure that I will ever again need the services of an employment law specialist but I would be happy to recommend you to anyone with a problem.” AB Ilminster

Simon Morgan

Educated in Somerset, Simon graduated from St Catherine’s College, Oxford in 1978 and spent 16 years in the Army, before returning to the West Country to qualify as a solicitor. He spent much of his childhood on a family farm, developing a love of the countryside and was able to realise his dream of working with farmers and landowners. Awarded a Master of Law degree in Agricultural law in 1999, he trained at Clarke Willmott and was then head hunted by a prestigious London practice.  He then became a partner at two private client firms based in the Inns of Court for some of the largest landed families in England.

He returned to the West Country in 2009 to join AmicusLaw and was among the very first lawyers to be awarded the highly exclusive Fellowship of the Agricultural Law Association in September 2009.

Daniel Stevens

Dispute Resolution Lawyer

Dan hails from the Thames Valley – he worked for Boyes Turner in Reading before moving to the SW in 2002 to join Stones Solicitors’ Litigation Team in Exeter, moving up to become Head of the Department there. Dan then moved to a litigation specialist firm in Exeter before joining Amicus in 2013. Dan is a litigation and dispute resolution specialist with over 17 years’ litigation experience, from Court of Appeal through High and County Courts to Small Claims Court and in Mediations. With specialist experience (and age!) comes the understanding that clients do sometimes need a Rottweiler to hammer home a point and other times need a more pragmatic and commercially viable approach – not just a run of the mill legal expert who fails to understand what the client needs to achieve from a dispute he/she invariably could do without whilst costing a small fortune.

Dan has acted in reported cases on Search and Seize injunctions, the proper interpretation of covenants in title deeds and commercial contested lease renewals and he has acted in any number of contract disputes and contested debt claims. Dan is also an expert in joint property ownership disputes for unmarried property owners. Dan will fight for your cause and he is an adept negotiator and commercially minded business lawyer.

Dan also provides dispute resolution services for Private Clients – Click here for more info
